An unintended expat blogger behind Fabled Harbor Way

Hello, I am Sofia
I work as a project manager, I’m a parent, and I’m an expat based in Lisbon, Portugal.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Began
Moving to Portugal wasn’t in the long-range plan. Like many expat relocations, it started as a work opportunity and soon grew into something far bigger.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks felt more complicated than they should.
The Adjustment Phase
There was culture shock, doubt, and a lot of learning by doing. But gradually, routines formed. We discovered places that worked for us, met other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Created Fabled Harbor Way
Most information online was either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism content. What was missing was an honest, day-to-day family viewpoint.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical guidance grounded in real life in Portugal.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from living in Portugal
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site is not:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- Not a sponsored review platform
- Not a generic travel blog
Looking Forward
Our time in Portugal continues, and so does the learning process. As long as the information remains useful, I will keep recording what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Lisbon or anywhere in Portugal, don't hesitate to contact us.
Best regards,
Sofia
